Cumming residents don’t seem fond of the possibility of curbside recycling.

Responding to a resident’s request, the City Council decided at its September meeting to send a survey to residents and businesses asking if they’d be willing to pay $7 a month — in addition to current trash-hauling charges — to get the service. Out of roughly 1,700 surveys sent out, 308 voted no, while 92 approved of the idea.

Council members voted Nov. 21 to table the possibility for 12 months and then revisit it.

Cumming residents currently pay $15 a month for trash service, while the commercial fee is $20. The service is provided through a private contractor.
