Plans to replace Mableton Elementary moved forward last week when the Cobb school board approved Nix-Fowler Constructors, Inc. for a $17.9 million contract to perform the work. The school will be built at the same site, just behind the existing building. The new building is expected to be completed by the start of the 2012-13 school year. The existing school will be torn down in late summer 2012.
