A general contractor for Elizabeth Porter Park was chosen recently by the Marietta City Council.

Integrated Construction and Nobility will be paid $3,269,780 to construct the park near the intersection of the North Marietta Parkway and Allgood Road, beginning this year with completion expected next year. This fee does not include the public mural, technology, irrigation, furnishings, a five percent contingency of $163,489, a splash pad by Vortex for $612,255 and a $400,000 playground. The entire appropriation for the project is $4,739,044, according to city spokeswoman Lindsey Wiles.

This site was the former home of the Elizabeth Porter Recreation Center and, before then, an African-American hospital for Cobb County residents.
