College Park Fire Chief Wade Elmore announced recently that the city’s ISO rating - a report outlining the readiness for fire suppression, water sources, emergency communications improved from Class 3 to Class 2. A lower rating translates to lower insurance premiums for businesses and homeowners.
In the most recent survey of the 1,020 fire departments in the state of Georgia, College Park Fire Rescue was among only 30 that achieved the Class 2 ISO rating. This rating will go into effect on April 1, 2015.
The rating is based on four factors:
— The city’s ability to receive and respond to fire alarms;
— The fire department’s first-alarm response and initial attack capabilities
— The water supply system
— Divergence- which is defined as the disparity between the effectiveness of the fire department’s water supply scores.
