Cobb County will add a new ladder fire truck and a Fire and Emergency Medical Records Management System as well as three new firefighters positions.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners granted nearly $1.36 million to Pierce Manufacturing for the fire truck and $473,045 to Image Trend for the system. The present records management system no longer can meet the statutory requirements or the current business needs for Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services.

Ongoing operating costs for subscription fees are estimated to be $68,387 in Fiscal Year 2019 and $70,439 in Fiscal Year 2020. The tractor-drawn ladder truck will include a no-smoke diesel filter system and arrive by summer 2018.

Also, three new fire driver/engineer positions will be added to the Fiscal Year 2019 budget at around $282,222 for salaries and fringe benefits.

For training, uniforms and safety equipment, the initial cost of $19,805 also is included in the $282,222.
