The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 recently to allow parking meters and booting in some zones. Fines will include $75 for booting as a maximum. Cobb Commission Chairman Mike Boyce said there will be no parking meters on county roads. The commissioners will decide the locations, time limits and fees of those parking meter zones that will be in force 24/7 and whether to hire vendors for revenue collection and enforcement.

The mandatory fine for overtime parking will be $50, and the vehicle may be booted or towed. If that fine is not paid in full within 14 days of the citation’s issuance, the fine doubles to $100. Then if the $100 fine is not paid in full within 45 days of the citation’s issuance, the fine doubles to $200.

Violators may appeal the citations to the Cobb County Magistrate Court.
