The Marietta City Schools Board of Education agreed unanimously Nov. 14 to buy 10 new 2016 Honda Accord LX Sedan Driver’s Education vehicles for the Marietta/Cobb Driver’s Education Program.

High bidder Ed Voyles Honda will be paid $180,900, including oil changes and vehicle wraps. The other two bidders were Hennessy Honda at $175,000, including vehicle wraps but not oil changes, and Marietta Toyota at $164,500, including oil changes but not including vehicle wraps.

The Georgia Department of Driver Services requires Driver’s Education vehicles to be replaced when they reach 10 years old. These vehicles will be purchased according to the agreement between the Cobb County School District and Marietta City Schools. The CCSD will buy five vehicles and Marietta City Schools the other five cars.

Funding for the purchases by Marietta City Schools will come from E-SPLOST IV, the local penny sales tax.
