Improvements on New Macland Road were approved by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 12.

The contract was awarded to low bidder CMES, Inc. for almost $3,277,656.

Bid tabulation consists of nearly $2,888,171 in roadway costs and $389,485 in Water System costs.

The scheduled completion date is about two years, following the issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

New Macland Road is an approved roadway safety and operational improvements project in the 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax Transportation Improvements Program.

The project includes roadway safety and traffic operational improvements on New Macland Road, beginning at Arapaho Drive and ending at Macland Road.

Improvements will include construction of turn lanes and sidewalks along with drainage improvements, consisting of the replacement of two culverts.

Project limits encompass McEachern High School frontage on New Macland Road.

For an additional $58,598, the Cobb County School District (CCSD) will pay for the addition of driveway and sidewalk improvements on the McEachern High School property.
