Cobb County is receiving a little more than $2.3 million in grants to provide training and employment services for around 400 people.
The Cobb County Board of Commissioners recently accepted the grants from the Technical College System of Georgia, the new administrator of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Grant (WIOA) funds, for CobbWorks, Inc.
All expenditures will be paid with grant funds so that there will be no impact to Cobb’s General Fund.
Amounts are:
- $1,257,491 to provide training and employment services for 226 dislocated workers. The grant period is from Oct. 1, 2018 through June 30, 2020.
- $900,849 for adult education, employment and training services by CobbWorks for 162 participants. The grant period is from Oct. 1, 2018 through June 30, 2020.
- $83,102 to provide employment and training services to 17 more youths through CobbWorks. These funds have been recaptured from other jurisdictions not able to meet the expenditure/obligation requirements for PY17 funds. The grant period remains April 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019 as a supplement to the $1,192,232 grant received in July 2017 for youths.
- $66,876, to provide employment and training services to dislocated workers through CobbWorks. These funds have been recaptured from other jurisdictions not able to meet the expenditure/obligation requirements for PY17 and FY18 funds. The grant period remains July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019 as a supplement to the $278,171 grant received in August 2017 and $1,482,122 in November 2017 for dislocated workers.
- $31,345 to provide employment and training services to adults through CobbWorks. These funds have been recaptured from other jurisdictions not able to meet the expenditure/obligation requirements for PY17 funds. The grant period remains July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019 as a supplement to the $156,606 grant received in August 2017 and $1,073,214 received in November 2017.
