Cobb County will get almost $900,000 in unused federal housing funds that were originally intended for use by Fulton County.
The funds are part of the Georgia Urban County Consortium’s home investment program. Fulton pulled out of the Consortium in 1999 and left the money behind.
Cobb's Community Development Block Grant office will use about $775,000 to develop vacant lots acquired under the home investment program. The remaining $120,000 will be allocated to the Marietta Housing Authority for down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible homebuyers.
