The Fall Academy of the Cobb County Public Safety Academy will begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Cobb County Public Safety Training Academy, 2109 Valor Drive, Marietta.
Open to Cobb residents, they must fill out an application that can be received by emailing Victor.Verola@CobbCounty.org or picking up the application at the Department of Public Safety Training Center, 2109 Valor Drive, Marietta.
By 3 p.m. Sept. 20, the application will need to be taken to the Cobb County Public Safety Internal Affairs Department, 1150 Powder Springs St., Suite 300, Marietta along with a driver’s license copy.
Applications that are Wait Listed will be held over to the Spring 2020 program if necessary.
Those applicants who do not have an email address should provide a phone number.
Classes will be conducted every Tuesday evening for 13 weeks, with graduation being the 13th week.
A few of the planned activities include:
- Meeting with members of the Public Safety Department.
- Touring the 911 Communications Center and the Medical Examiner's Office.
- Receiving demonstrations from DPS Police Training on weapons/firearms safety and defensive tactics.
- Participating in classes from the Fire Department special operations, that is, Hazardous Materials, Heavy Rescue Squad.
The complete schedule will be given out on the first night along with other information.
