Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee raised $50,660 for his re-election campaign in the six months ending June 30, according to campaign disclosure forms.

Lee spent about $8,800 this period, and has a balance on hand of $50,534.

Many of Lee’s contributions come from Cobb leaders and business owners who have done work with the county, including chamber leaders Rob Garcia and David Connell; several attorneys from Brock Clay Attorneys, which represents Cobb’s school system; Don Hicks and James Croy with Croy Engineering; Cobb EMC spokesman Sam Kelly; former WellStar CEO Greg Simone; Superior Court Judge Robert Flournoy; and County Attorney Dottie Bishop.

Lee anticipates spending between $100,000 and $200,000 on the 2012 campaign. Thus far, Lee’s only announced challenger is former Cobb Commission Chairman Bill Byrne. Byrne will launch his fundraising campaign in September.
