Cobb police will receive more vehicles and body cameras due to Tuesday’s 5-0 vote by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

Around $8.8 million will be paid for the vehicles through a capital lease agreement with Bank of America at a 1.248 percent interest rate.

Funding will come from the 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

This decision will allow the county to complete the police take-home vehicle program that began last year with the county’s purchase of 66 vehicles.

The commissioners also agreed to pay $106,607 for 100 more body cameras in addition to the 2014 purchase of 53 body cameras.

Funding for the cameras will come from seizure funds of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement grant fund.
