Cobb approves variance on standards for raising chickens

A request for chickens on less than two acres was approved 3-2 Tuesday by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

In favor were Commissioners Lisa Cupid, Bob Ott and Bob Weatherford. Opposed were Commission Chairman Tim Lee and Commissioner JoAnn Birrell.

Lee has said he is opposed to any request for chickens on less than two acres.

For one year, Michael C. and Christina Disser were granted a land use permit for their four hens on Mitchell Road - used for egg production and education for their homeschooling family. They also will need to seek a county variance for their four ducks for egg production.
