A $2.9 million control tower has opened at Cobb County Airport-McCollum Field in Kennesaw. The 78-foot tower replaces a 42-tower that will be taken down. The new tower meets current FAA standards for security and personnel space and increases visibility.

Construction is expected to start this spring on a $799,000 customs inspection facility that will allow international flights at the county airport. The airport has about 170 landings and take-offs a day.
