Voters approved annexation of areas around Clarkston, Tuesday. The special election drew a larger turnout than in May when the referendum was first rejected. This time 72 percent of the ballots received voted yes on the measure.

Clarkston took DeKalb County to state court to win a revote opportunity.

City Manager Keith Barker expects annexation to make the city more economically viable and broaden its tax base. The population could increase from 7,550 to 20,000.
