Avondale Estates and Chamblee are among 19 Georgia cities to become part of a state program designed to help communities boost their downtowns.

As part of the Main Street Start-Up Program, the DeKalb County cities will share in $1.8 million of funding and technical assistance from the state Department of Community Affairs for their efforts.
