The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking potential victims of a 44-year-old Canton man said to have scammed two elderly residents out of money in roof-repair cases.
Lt. Jay Baker said Shawn Stephen Roberts was arrested by Cherokee detectives in March on charges of Theft By Deception and Exploitation of an Elderly Person. After being released on bond, he was arrested by Woodstock Police on April 8 on exploitation and Conversion of Payment for Real Property charges. He’s jailed in the Woodstock case.
Roberts is accused of making deals to replace roofs with two residents ages 74 and 87 and then never doing the work. Baker said anyone else having similar dealings with Roberts who hasn’t contacted law enforcement should call Detective James Roberts at 770-928-0239.
