The Cherokee County Board of Education will gain new blood at its meeting 6 p.m. Thursday at the Canton High School auditorium, 111 Academy St., Canton.
Three new board members will be sworn in. Mike Chapman, John Harmon and Clark Menard were elected last year. Harmon won the District 3 seat replacing Michael Geist, Menard captured District 5, taking over from Rob Usher, and Mike Chapman took District 6 replacing Robert Wofford.
None of the three incumbents chose to run again.
The board will also consider adoption of the Georgia Education Coalition’s 2015 legislative priorities, which include a demand that state lawmakers restore prior austerity budget cuts and fully fund the Quality Basic Education Fund formula.
The Board will also weigh buying 217 acres of property along Ga. 108 near Ga. 20 in western Cherokee county for $1.08 million, for future development.
