The Cherokee County Planning Commission signed off on plans for two residential developments.

Commissioners approved Gates Construction LLC’s request to rezone just over 20 acres within the general single-family residential category for a 33-lot subdivision, with a density of 1.65 units per acre. The property is on Owens Store Road near East Cherokee Drive.

A developer representative said the reclassification allowing a greater density would make for more uniform lots.

The commission also approved a variance allowing for reduction of a 30-foot undisturbed zoning buffer to zero feet along the west property line to allow for an entrance.

Commissioners also approved a request by Mutual Home Solutions to rezone five acres on Darnell Road for a nine-home residential development.
