The Cherokee County School District rated four stars overall out of a possible five in the state’s latest school climate ratings, with one school – Creekland Middle – earning a perfect five-star rating, district officials announced.
Also, for the first time, every Cherokee County middle and high school earned at least four stars, officials said. Only R.M. Moore Elementary School STEM Academy earned three stars; the district cited significant enrollment and demographic changes in the 2018-19 school year with the consolidation of Canton Elementary School.
The rating uses data from the Georgia Student Health Survey, Georgia School Personnel Survey, Georgia Parent Survey, student discipline data and attendance records, according to a Georgia Department of Education website.
“Our schools’ culture and climate affects students in every way – from academic performance to self-esteem to parent involvement, and it’s just as important to our employees’ success and well-being to feel valued and included,” said schools Superintendent Brian V. Hightower.
Hightower noted that this year, the district made Positive Culture and Climate a priority in its strategic plan, "which shows how important it is to our School Board and me to maintain a strong sense of family in our schools." Information: https://bit.ly/2O7sJDi
