Cherokee County’s chief financial officer for the past five years, Janelle Funk, has resigned to take a job in the private sector. The announcement was made at Tuesday’s county commission meeting. Funk said that next week will be her last in county government, and thanked the commission for the opportunity to serve in the role.

Officials said a search has already begun for a replacement, with a goal of having the position filled within about two months.

Funk was hired in 2010 to take the helm of the county’s financial operations. She had been finance director and procurement controller with Coca-Cola Enterprises prior to that.
