Personal computers, cell phones and fax machines will be among the items accepted at no charge at a Cherokee County electronics recycling day Saturday, Dec. 1.

Residents can drop off old electronics from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cherokee Administrative Center, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton.

Other items taken at no charge will include laptops, keyboards, printers, copiers, stereo VCR/CD players, typewriters, UPS batteries, telephones, scanners and toner cartridges.

Televisions will incur a charge of $20; CRT monitors, $5; and large projection TVs, $40. Wood-cabinet TV sets, household and alkaline batteries, gas-powered equipment, household trash, tires and appliances will not be accepted.

Participants are asked to stay in their cars, and volunteers will take the equipment from vehicles. Devices should be unboxed, with cables removed (cables can be bagged for drop off).
