New administrative digs are on the way for the Cherokee County School District.
The school board Thursday night approved a $16 million contract with Womack, Lewis and Smith Inc. to build the Educational Services Facility on Bluffs Parkway. The school district received the approximately 16 acres of land located across from the Cherokee County Administration Building in a land swap with the City of Canton agreed to in March.
School officials say the facility set to be completed by August 2017 would allow for the reunification of about 150 scattered employees in one more cost-effective facility. The new headquarters will include a significantly larger open space for school board meetings, special events and professional development training.
It’s bening paid for with voter-approved SPLOST funding.
