The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday evening (Nov. 17) will consider several justice system and transportation issues.

Commissioners will consider awarding three contracts totaling $115,519 for renovations at the county justice center. The work will provide for a new judge’s chambers and related office space in the historic courthouse, with work to be done by Dec. 31.

Also under consideration will be acceptance of two additional Victims of Crime Act grants to fund two full-time Victim-Witness Advocate positions. The grant to the district attorney’s office totals $68,000 and another to the solicitor general’s office is for $45,814.

The commissioners also will consider a 2017 FY Georgia Department of Transportation grant application for $686,180 to fund operating and capital expenses for the CATS Rural Public Transportation program.

The commission meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Cherokee County Administration Building, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton.
