If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about local government and how it operates, the city of Chamblee has an opportunity for you. Chamblee 101, a nine-week program begins in February and is designed to educate residents and business owners on how the city government works, who’s responsible for what and what steps you can take to make a difference, according to a press release. The classes include discussions and interactive activities on topics such as Chamblee’s history, form of government, city services, finance and development.
“I decided to take the Chamblee 101 class because I feel it is important to be educated and involved in things that are near and dear to my heart,” says Sherry Addison, a Huntley Hills resident and 2018 graduate of Chamblee 101. “The city I live in, the people who also live here and the people who provide my family services are all things I’m grateful for. I want to give back as much as I can.”
“Take Chamblee 101. You’ll have a greater appreciation for the folks who dedicate their lives to making this city great. You’ll also be well informed of services available and the innovative ideas our leaders are pursuing for our future. Great things are happening in Chamblee - be a part of it,” Addison adds!
Classes are every Wednesday at 6 p.m. beginning, Feb. 13 and going through April 10. The kickoff for registered class members and alumni, however, is at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Hopstix, 3404 Pierce Dr., Chamblee. The graduation ceremony will take place at the City Council meeting on April 16.
