The City of Atlanta and the Historic Oakland Foundation have launched the first cellphone tour for Oakland Cemetery. Called "African American Voices," it features 12 narratives about black families buried there and their connection to local and national history.

Three panels also have been installed, two in the historic black section and one in the area of the original "Slave Square." The panels tell the story of African Americans and race relations in Atlanta and the nation. The tour is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Partnership-in-Scholarship Project.
