The Brookhaven City Council voted unanimously to approve a traffic calming plan in Brookhaven Heights. The residents have been discussing what to do about motorists cutting through the neighborhood from North Druid Hills Road onto Standard Drive, Pine Grove Avenue, Colonial Drive and Thornwell Drive.

The original plan, which was presented in January, called for partial street closures along several streets where cut-through traffic was heaviest.

The city felt that such closures would create a traffic jam during rush hour and the council decided to post signs prohibiting turning into the neighborhood during rush hour.

That solution will be studied for six months to determine its effectiveness.
