The Brookhaven City Council will consider approval of a grant application during the meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road. The Community Development Block Grant provides funding to address a wide range of unique community development needs. In 2013, the County used CDBG funding to make facility upgrades to Briarwood Park.
The council will also consider an ordinance to amend Chapter Six of the Brookhaven Code of Ordinances regarding animals. The proposed ordinance specifically identifies DeKalb Animal Control as an appropriate agency for issuing citations for violations of the ordinance. It specifically delegates to the Brookhaven Chief of Police the authority to enforce the ordinance and the power to designate DeKalb Animal Control to resolve any disputes over authority to enforce the code.
