Following three public hearings, the Berkeley Lake City Council approved a fiscal year 2016 Budget on Nov. 19 totaling $1,353,271.

The approved budget includes allocations for stormwater management, an increase to the contingency category and additions to the city’s reserves to partially replace general funds used for early bond retirement in an effort to save expenses on interest payments.

During the same meeting, the council approved a contract for $96,200 for citywide stormwater road drainage improvements. The repairs are the result of an annual inspection of 20 percent of the city’s stormwater facility inventory that determined 18 inventory items in need of repair. MVP Piping Company of Acworth will perform the work.
