Avondale Estates’ Communications Manager Kelly Brooks announced her resignation Thursday, the second city staffer to leave in May. Recently married, Brooks and her husband will move to Utah, though she told the AJC she’d remain on the job for another four months.
“I’ll assist the city in hiring a skilled, experienced replacement and ensure the new hire is fully trained before I leave,” said Brooks, who’s held the post since January, 2014.
City Clerk Juliette Sims-Owens left suddenly on May 4 after seven years and the vacancy still hasn’t been filled. City Manager Clai Brown said he’s interviewed over 20 prospects, and that the application deadline has been extended to June 5. Avondale has 39 full-time staffers — paid employees getting benefits — including seven who work at city hall.
