Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis has released a series “priorities” that will guide an upcoming redistricting.

Davis said he wants to avoid splitting up neighborhoods and avoid closing a high-performing school to send students to a lower performing one. He wants to eliminate freestanding ninth-grade academies, and to keep the school “cluster” concept in tact.

The full list of priorities is posted at the district’s website, www.atlantapublicschools.us. The next round of community meetings on the redistricting is scheduled for Jan. 30 – Feb. 2. Davis plans to make his final recommendations to the board in March or April.
