Outstanding ticket holders are taking advantage of ‘Don’t Get the Boot,’ a late parking ticket pardon program offered this month by the city of Atlanta.

Since its June 1 launch, Atlanta has collected more than $11,000 from over 300 citations.

The city and parking vendor ATLPlus launched ‘Don’t Get the Boot’ to waive late penalties added to citations issued before March 24, 2017.

Late fees will be waived until the end of the day June 15. Once the program ends, all outstanding citations will again include late fees.

Following ‘Don’t Get the Boot,’ ATLPlus will launch new license plate reading cameras. The vehicle-mounted cameras are designed to automatically check license plates for payment of parking meters, time-restrictions, outstanding citations and permit zones.

Cameras will be used to check for “scofflaw violators,” people with three or more outstanding parking citations or more than $100 in fines. Violators parked on the street can be booted.

If outstanding fees haven’t been paid within 24 hours, the vehicle may be towed.
