Tasked with maintaining more than 500 lane-miles of local streets, Alpharetta has awarded a $2.4 million contract to renew 30 roads in the coming year.

The City Council recently approved the contract for Northwest Georgia Paving Inc. to mill and resurface streets.

Two of the busiest thoroughfares in the program, North Point Parkway (outside lanes only) between Kimball Bridge Road and Old Milton Parkway, and Windward Parkway between North Point and the Camp Creek bridges, will be done at night to minimize traffic disruptions.

In related action, the Council approved seeking a $544,008 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation to help pay for the road resurfacings. The grant requires a 30 percent local match, $163,202, which is accounted for in the city’s Public Works Capital Budget.
