The Alpharetta City Council has approved a $255,675 contract for trail construction, and a $98,506 contract to install a playground, at the Windward Soccer Complex.
Steel and Associates Inc. submitted the lower quote of the two city vendors on call for trail construction services, staff said in an agenda report. Its contract covers such issues as a concrete sidewalk, driveway and restroom pad; water, power and sewer connections for a restroom; trail surfaces; erosion control, and concrete retaining walls.
Separately, the council awarded a playground contract to Great Southern Recreation, which had the highest-scoring proposal of six vendors that responded to a request for proposals.
The 6,940-square-foot playground will have equipment for children ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12, including swings allowing children and parents to swing together; musical elements and natural themes; a 12-inch wood mulch surface, and about 100 feet of French drains for drainage, Great Southern said in its proposal.
“The playground will serve as a focal point for the families that visit the new park and give children a destination where their parents can supervise or take turns walking the trails and hand off supervision,” Great Southern said.
