Aerotropolis Atlanta CIDs will host a final open house for the public to view and provide input on the recommendations for the Transit Feasibility Study, according to a press release. The event takes place 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at Aerotroplis Atlanta CIDs office, 1400 Centre Parkway, Suite 132, Atlanta.
The Transit Feasibility Study has several components:
Transit solutions
Potential transit solutions include new circulator service, self-driving transit vehicles, extention of existing services and expanded house of service. Opportunities to continue leveraging resources for public/private investment in improved transit service will also be explored.
Economic development drivers
Improved transit is important to economic development because it connects communities, people to jobs, and activity centers. For certain corridors, transit will provide the most efficient form of travel and complement new development.
Coordination of plans
Recognizing that several important planning efforts have been completed in the Aerotropolis area, the Transit Feasibility Study will be consistent with projects such as the Greenway Plan, Master Plan, Complete Streets Plan, and other initiatives.
Stakeholder engagement
The Transit Feasibility Study will have a major emphasis on public feedback. The team will conduct interviews with key stakeholders, regular stakeholder committee meetings, mobile exhibits, public meetings, and surveys. Throughout the study, a dedicated website will be maintained with meeting notices, maps, and contact information.
Technology is revolutionizing public transit as we know it today, bringing electric and autonomous vehicles to offer new solutions. The project team will reach out to technology providers and conduct an Innovation Summit that will demonstrate how cutting edge technologies can be applied to the Aerotropolis market.
