The Jonesboro City Council approved the rezoning of two parcels of property on north Fayetteville road near North Main Street from “Neighborhood Commercial” to “Multifamily Residential” at a called meeting last month.

One of the parcels, a 6.25 acre tract, was also annexed into the city.

The proposed project for the area is a senior housing project for limited income senior citizens, aged 55 and over.

The project is proposed to consist of a three-story building of 60 units. The residences will feature one- and two-bedroom spaces, with rents ranging $500 and below, based on income.

Roseman & Associates are developing the project in association with Fayetteville Gingercake Road LLC.

Similar developments have been completed in Athens and Covington.
