Changes to how local Henry County commission and school board districts are drawn will be voted on Wednesday by the Senate, despite opposition by members of the county's legislative delegation that they had not vetted the proposal.

Democratic state Sen. Emanuel Jones, who represents portions of Henry, said Tuesday the matter had not come before the delegation when the House voted last week to approve the changes. According to Jones, the bill's sponsor, Republican state Rep. Steve Davis, has a son on the county school board who benefits from the new district lines.

Jones, who is the delegation's chairman, had asked that the bill be deferred until lawmakers reconvene in January. The bill was approved Tuesday, however, by two Senate committees.
