Stone Mountain Park is looking for a few good teachers -- well actually a lot of them.

Georgia’s most visited tourist attraction will offer $5,000 to the school with the most participating summer employees to use as it sees fit. Accepted applicants can earn an additional spot bonus for every hour worked during their commitment period, for a total bonus of up to $200.

“Our educator hiring program has been a success for Stone Mountain Park in a number of ways,” said Michael Dombrowski, park vice president and general manager. “Clearly teachers bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience that meshes well with our company culture. Being around our family-oriented attractions tends to come natural to them. We’ve also found that they serve as great role models and ambassadors for our entire staff.”

Last year Shiloh High School received a cash donation of $5,000. The park’s hiring campaign focuses on recruiting educators and staff from local K-12 schools during the summer break.

What will you be doing?

Part-time positions cover a variety of duties, including retail, food, attractions, admissions, entertainment and more. Entry-level leadership, professional, administrative, and management opportunities are also available.

Perks include free admission to all Herschend family properties for employees and dependents.

To be part of the campaign, you must work full time for any county K-12 grade school as a teacher, full time substitute, janitor, bus driver, cafeteria worker, or administrative office staff.

All hired program participants must work a minimum of 150 hours to be eligible for the individual bonus and the school grand prize.

There must be at least three participants from one school for the school to be eligible for the $5,000 grand prize.

The teacher-focused recruitment program takes place in tandem with seasonal hiring for the state’s most visited attraction. Seasonally, Stone Mountain Park employs additional staff to work day-to-day and during key holidays such as Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day as well as popular annual events and festivals including Spring FUN Break, Summer at the Rock, the Yellow Daisy Festival, Native American Festival & Pow-Wow and Pumpkin Festival.

The park also recruits seasonal employees to operate winter features including Stone Mountain Christmas and Snow Mountain.
