A Georgia organization seeks to help individuals further their chances of finding a job in property management and gain education on topics, such as technology and logistics, that are used in the field.
The Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation (GAIEF), a non-profit organization based in Stockbridge, promotes career opportunities and connects students with professionals.
GAIEF raises awareness by bringing industry leaders into high schools and universities, such as the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech, for guest lectures and classroom discussions. They offer information about property management, ways to advertise properties, how to shop the competition, and much more.
According to the GAIEF website (gaief.com), housing and community management is a pathway that can lead to jobs ranging from marketing to managing an enterprise valued in excess of $20 million. According to participant feedback, over 70 percent of students said they would consider a major in property management.
Debbie Phillips, president of GAIEF, has worked in the apartment industry since 1987. She teaches apartment industry courses, mentors students and represents the industry at career fairs. She’s introduced more than 6,000 college students to career opportunities in the industry, according to gaief.com.
The housing industry is another route for you to employ technical education and other training in a potentially exciting new career path.
