A plan by Gwinnett County school officials to award a school bus camera contract to a company embroiled in a federal bribery investigation will be delayed.

Gwinnett officials had considered asking school board members to approve a contract with the company, Redflex Traffic Solutions, at their meeting Thursday evening. Gwinnett spokesman Jorge Quintana said Wednesday the vote was delayed due to last-minute logistical issues.

Gwinnett school board members voted in July 2013 to hire the company to install cameras on buses to catch motorists who drive past stop signs on the buses. The school district delayed acting after another company appealed the decision.

District leaders also conceded they were unaware of bribery allegations involving Redflex in Chicago. One former Chicago official was arrested last month, accused of taking bribes from Redflex officials to win a city contract. Redflex officials said they have fired some high-level employees since the bribery allegations and note more than 100 agencies have since signed or renewed contracts with the company.
