A Georgia woman now has a bit more of a reason to revel in the extended time at home after learning she's the lucky winner of HGTV's Dream Home 2020 sweepstakes.

Susan O’Gorman, who lives in Perry, recently received a virtual ambush from the HGTV crew, who shared with her that she was this year’s winner with a grand prize that includes a home and other prizes worth more than $2 million.

“It’s so unreal, I’m still in disbelief, it doesn’t seem like reality,” O’Gorman told HGTV.

The Georgia mom and wife signed up to get daily email reminders to enter the giveaway. Nearly every day, she faithfully filled out the entry forms on both HGTV’s website and its sister site DIYNetwork.com. Her diligence paid off, since she was randomly selected out of more than 144 million entries to the sweepstakes.

O’Gorman said she was truly shocked by receiving the news via a virtual call with HGTV. Her daughters found out the news before she did.

“My two girls knew about it, I’m just shocked that they managed to keep it from me,” Susan shared. “My daughter was showing me pictures on her laptop of rocking chairs she wants to buy for her porch. Then she said, 'Hey Mom, check out this call that's coming in.'”

Once she did, Tiffany Brooks, an interior designer and winner of HGTV’s “Design Star,” appeared and told O’Gorman she was the winner.

The 3,500-square-foot abode is located near Hilton Head, South Carolina. The mom of three and soon-to-be grandmother said the house’s architectural aesthetics are just beginning of what makes it a dream for her and her family.

“We used to vacation there when the kids were young, it’s one of our favorite places to be. It’s not very far from us, it’s only about three hours.”
