State and federal officials are investigating a specific threat of violence made against Nashua high schools.

Nashua Police said they are working with the Nashua School District Administration along with other law enforcement agencies to determine the credibility of the threat. School for the entire district will be closed Monday due to the threat.

"Because the threat is specific and extends to several schools, we will be cautious and close all of our public schools in Nashua tomorrow, Monday, Dec. 21,” Superintendent Mark Conrad said.

The threat was emailed in and officials are still working to identify who sent the email, which was received Sunday. Police said the threat was made against both Nashua high schools - Nashua High School North and Nashua High School South. Sunday night state police officers and K-9s were sweeping Nashua High School North.

"Specific direction towards the two specific Nashua high school. With specific threats of violence is why we are kind of taking it seriously," said State Trooper Lt. Kerry Baxter.

"As a parent I'm scared, I'm freaking out. Don't want to send my kids to school. Fears me if they aren’t going to come home alive," said Barbara Lao, a parent to kids in the school district.

Lao and other parents received the reverse call from the Nashua School District saying school is canceled. Laso said her daughter was terrified.

Conrad said he anticipates opening schools Tuesday. There are 11,400 students in the district.
