Appointed faculty members — K. Paige Carmichael, George C. Foreman and Gregory H. Robinson.

Faculty elected by university council — Audrey A. Haynes, Janet E. Frick and Jennifer A. Samp.

Alumni — Chris Cummiskey, Steve C. Jones, Donald M. Leebern III, Jon C. Stinchcomb, Lisa G. Wood, Joel O. Wooten Jr. and William D. Young Jr.

A: Edwards, who was John Kerry's running mate in the 2004 presidential election, is a founding partner of Edwards Kirby, a law firm in Raleigh, N.C., that specializes in personal injury and economic and social justice cases.

Edwards ran for president in 2004, but withdrew from the race and was selected by Kerry as the vice presidential nominee.

Edwards also ran in 2008, but withdrew and endorsed Barack Obama.
