A woman’s eye was injured as she resisted arrest during a traffic stop, according to a Henry County police report.
According to the report, an officer noticed Lauren Angelica Law’s brake lights weren’t working and pulled her over. When he got out of the car, the officer said she held a cellphone up to his face and demanded to know why he pulled her over.
“As I went to introduce myself and explain the nature of the traffic stop, (Law) began to interrupt me demanding to know what criminal act she had committed,” the officer wrote.
The officer told Law that her brake lights were out, which Law said “was not a crime” before asking what crime was committed. When Law refused to show her license and get out of the car, Parker called for backup.
Three officers arrived and repeatedly asked Law to show her license and step out of the car, according to the report. When she didn’t, officers broke Law’s window, pulled her from the car and attempted to handcuff her as she continued filming.
“Law began to scream that she had glass in her eyes,” Parker wrote in the report, “which we immediately called for an ambulance to respond.”
According to the report, Law was taken to a patrol car, where she held the door open with her foot.
Law was eventually taken to the hospital and treated. She was released to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and charged with obstruction of law enforcement and driving without brake lights.
