A murder-suicide was reported in a Walmart parking lot about 4 a.m. Sunday, East Point police said.

Investigators said a man shot and killed a woman in a car and then shot and killed himself.

They were in the parking lot of the store located on Cleveland Avenue.

Police told Channel 2 Action News the woman was as Wal-Mart employee who'd been followed to work by a man she was at one time romantically involved with.

A security guard saw the two arguing and told them stop, but he did not intervene.

When shoppers began to arrive, they were shocked to see a crime scene.

“I walked in on something just (really) horrific,” shopper Delana Morrisette told Channel 2. “It was sad to see people crying and was just sad to see on a Sunday morning. I just hope the families are OK.”

Police said they are waiting to notify family members before releasing the names of the people involved.
