The cause of death of a well-regarded East Point police officer remained a mystery Monday night as authorities awaited the results of an autopsy.
Officials have yet to say whether they suspect foul play in the death of Crystal A. Parker, a corporal and six-year East Point Police Department employee.
Parker, who was voted the city’s 2012 Officer of the Year, was found dead inside her south Fulton County home over the weekend. A close friend requested a welfare check after not seeing or hearing from Parker for a few days.
Her body was discovered at her Creel Road home on Sunday evening, authorities said.
Kay Lester, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Police Department, said late Monday that investigators were waiting on autopsy results from the Medical Examiner’s Office and hoped to be able to release more information Tuesday.
She said Parker’s home was burglarized June 16. Cash, jewelry and an Xbox Connect were taken, and no arrests were made, Lester said.
