Only 15 days after finishing his 14th stint in prison, a 61-year-old man is back behind bars after being accused of stealing packages in northeast Atlanta.

Larry Sims Burke allegedly stole packages from a home in the 600 block of Cresthill Avenue before doing it again at a home in the 1200 block of Briarcliff Road on Tuesday, Atlanta police said in a news release.

A nearby surveillance camera allegedly caught Burke in the act during the first robbery, the release said. The victim of the second robbery took photos of the suspect on a bicycle leaving the scene.

The photos helped officers find and arrest Burke in the Virginia-Highland area Thursday, and he’s been charged with criminal trespass and misdemeanor theft by taking, according to Fulton County Jail records.

Police said he has 40 prior arrests, and Georgia Department of Corrections records show he’s a felon who has been to prison 14 times since 1976.

He’s previously been convicted of crimes including burglary, attempted burglary, possession of tools to commit crimes and first-degree forgery, GDC records show. He was most recently released from prison on Feb. 27 for a second-degree burglary conviction.

As of Friday evening, Burke remained in the Fulton County Jail on a $3,500 bond, jail records show.
