Police around 8:30 p.m. Friday were working to get all lanes of Buford Drive at Calvin Davis Circle in Lawrenceville reopened after a gas leak shut down travel in the area.
Gwinnett County fire personnel were dispatched in response to the leak just before 4:30 p.m. Friday. Police diverted traffic away from the area until crews were able to make the necessary repairs.
A crew from Lawrenceville Gas was able to stop the leak about four hours later, but was set to remain on the scene for repairs, Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.
No evacuations or injuries were reported as a result of the leak, which Rutledge said was caused by a construction crew that hit a gas main as it was digging to lay pipe.
