Johns Creek recently approved a request from The Saint Brigid Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Assembly to name the gazebo at the Johns Creek Veterans Memorial Walk in Newtown Park in honor and memory of Lieutenant John Bostian who served his country in the US Navy during WWII.

Lt. John Bostian USN (Feb. 8, 1919 – Aug. 18, 2020) served on the USS Benjamin Franklin, an aircraft carrier, in WWII which was bombed off the coast of Japan Mar. 19, 1945. Also serving on the ship was Catholic Chaplain Fr. Joseph T. O’Callahan, who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic action turning the attack and is the namesake of Saint Brigid 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

The Knights of Columbus built the gazebo, sponsored the new plaque for the Afghanistan section in the Veterans Memorial Walk, and continue to be active in the Johns Creek community.
